PURPOSE
OUR PURPOSE IS TO PUSH FOR CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION INITIATIVES TO CREATE AN APPRECIATION OF THE NATIONAL COAST.
From the experience in Punta de Lobos we want to reinforce the tools for a conscious management of our coast that integrates ecosystem, social and regulatory elements.
CONSERVATION MODEL:
The Punta de Lobos “Mirador” is protected in perpetuity to ensure free entry and conservation for future generations.
A private model is used based on the conservation right (DRC) passed by Congress in July 2016 and made a Chilean law.
It works in the following way:
1. A landowner can freely and voluntarily decide to limit his rights to his land in the aim of protecting ecological and/or ecosystem attributes.
2. The restrictions are registered in the property titles, so the conservation right applies to the property in perpetuity, regardless of who the owner may be.
PROJECTS
Educational Program
The aim is to connect children to nature by creating an awareness of the importance of protecting and caring for the nature surrounding us. The great confluence of people to Punta de Lobos gives us the opportunity to educate visitors through different initiatives.
Traditional Activities and Local Economies
Inhabitants are who keep the culture and essence of places intact. It is therefore a priority to supplement conservation efforts by fomenting and supporting traditional activities like surfing and fishing.
Park Design and Administration
Punta de Lobos is an open park, protected and with free entrance in perpetuity. Its purpose is to balance the different traditional activities like fishing and surfing with the use of the park. So, all designs are being addressed with the members of the community and park users to take into consideration the true needs of the territory.
FPL HOUSE
The House is a social and environmental laboratory where different areas collaborate that connect the private world to the public one. This space is intended to create an environmental awareness and educate the local community and visitors. It is the headquarters for diverse environmental educational activities.
Maritime Concession
FPL holds a maritime concession to care integrally for the coast of Punta de Lobos. The aim is to clean and care for beaches and ensure the safety of visitors.
Philanthropy Law
We are members of the Environmental Philanthropy Network together with diverse environmental organizations. The purpose is to create the basic conditions to improve environmental philanthropy.
Coastal Zoning
It is imperative to achieve an integrated management of the national coast. The regulations on this subject must be modernized to include risks, biodiversity conservation, social development and free entrance for recreation. This is a nationwide issue that can only be addressed collaboratively, which is why we are a member of Costa Chile, a group of NGOs dedicated to saving the coast of Chile.
PROYECTOS
CASA FPL
La casa un laboratorio social y ambiental, en donde colaboran distintas áreas que conectan al mundo privado con el público. El espacio busca generar consciencia ambiental y entregar conocimientos a la comunidad local y visitante, siendo sede para diversas actividades de educación ambiental.
Programa de Educación
Busca conectar a niños y niñas con la naturaleza, generando consciencia sobre la importancia que tiene proteger y cuidar nuestros espacios naturales. El alto flujo de personas en Punta de Lobos, nos da la oportunidad de educar a quienes lo visiten, a través de distintas iniciativas.
Actividades Tradicionales y Economías Locales
La cultura y esencia de los lugares se mantiene por quienes lo habitan, por lo que es prioritario complementar los esfuerzos de conservación, con impulsar y apoyar las actividades tradicionales como lo son el surf y la pesca.
Diseño y Administración del Parque
Punta de Lobos, al ser un parque de acceso libre y gratuito a perpetuidad, busca equilibrar sus distintas actividades tradicionales, como lo son la pesca y el surf, con el uso del parque y las visitas que este recibe. Es por esto que todos los procesos de diseño están siendo abordados con los integrantes de la comunidad y usuarios del lugar, considerando las necesidades reales del territorio.
Concesión Marítima
Con el objetivo de cuidar Punta de Lobos como espacio costero de forma integral, FPL se hace cargo de la concesión marítima, limpiando y cuidando sus playas, así como también velando por la seguridad de los visitantes.
Ley de Filantropía
Junto a diversas organizaciones medio ambientales somos parte de la Red de Filantropía Ambiental, que busca generar las condiciones básicas que permitan potenciar la filantropía en temáticas medio ambientales.
Zonificación del Borde Costero
Es imperativo lograr un manejo integrado del borde costero nacional, por lo que la normativa en torno a esto debe modernizarse e integrar componentes de riesgos, conservación de biodiversidad, desarrollo social y accesos libres para el esparcimiento. Esta problemática es a nivel nacional por lo que solo se puede abordar de forma colaborativa y por lo mismo formamos parte de Costa Chile, una agrupación de ONG`s que trabajan en territorios costeros.
