HISTORY

Punta de Lobos is a very special place exceptionally apt for surfing and artisanal fishing. Its flora, fauna and incredible geography make it a unique corner of Chile and the world.

The park is a conservation project arising from the need to protect this place from two invasive real estate developments approved in 2013 that were to be built on the land and cliffs of Punta de Lobos. In early 2014, the Punta de Lobos Defense Committee was set up to protect the sector with the support of Save The Waves Coalition. Among other things, the Committee was able to push for a change in the existing regulatory plan and restrict the permitted uses of the land in Punta Lobos.

Towards the end of 2017, the Punta de Lobos Foundation raised enough money through philanthropy and collaborative work to acquire the most emblematic property, called the “Mirador,” to guarantee its protection and free entry in perpetuity.
